Our Client Service Team

Lynn Williams

Lynn Williams (CPA, CA, CFP®, CCS®) is our leader, owner, CEO, chief financial strategist and champion of personal financial planning at The Lifestyle Protector.

Show Bio

Lynn is a professional financial advisor and chartered accountant who loves what she does. Her approach to personal financial planning is caring, curious, constructive and comprehensive. She brings with her an extensive knowledge of client-centered wealth management, strategic business planning and relationship marketing.

When David passed the company to Lynn it was more than just a family business move: as a globally successful financial professional, marketer and business owner, Lynn was uniquely qualified to carry The Lifestyle Protector into the future.

With a financial advisor father, you might think she grew into her financial maturity with ease. Nope. Her father was wonderful, but old-(old!) school. He believed his three daughters wouldn’t have to worry about money. He believed his daughters would have husbands who would take care of them. That’s how it had worked for Lynn’s parents and that’s how they expected it would work for their daughters.

So, Lynn’s dad didn’t pass on much money management wisdom as she and her sisters grew up. Which meant Lynn learned about navigating money challenges from personal experience. And, it wasn’t always pretty.

She has worked to overcome debt, curb overspending and shed losing investments. She’s become very good at creating abundance for her herself and now she’s helping to do the same for others. She walks her talk. The moral of this story? Lousy financial history is not an impediment to future money success.

Lynn is married to a New Zealander and she’s a hardcore rugby fan. She’s travelled to three Rugby World Cups (and isn’t done yet!). She cheers for the best team in the world: the New Zealand  All Blacks. Of Course.

Lynn Williams has contributed to two Best Selling Amazon books, several media articles and has been a guest on many podcasts. You can find links to all her media involvement here … Lynn In the Media.

Our Legacy

Legacy (noun): Something handed down by a predecessor.

I have the extraordinary privilege of carrying on what my father, J. David (Dave) Williams, started more than 50 years ago in Saskatchewan and continued across Western Canada.

My dad was passionate about what he did. He cared about people. He cared about leaving the world a better place. He was one of a kind. And, I miss him.

I have the honour, that not many people get to experience, of getting to know and serving the people he helped and continuing his legacy. My hope is that, if he were here today, he’d be proud of the work I do, the way I’m evolving the business and the legacy I’m creating.

J. David Williams

Our Founder, J. David Williams was born and raised in Saskatchewan. He began his financial career in 1966 after graduating from the University of Regina.

Show Bio

A Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter, and a lifetime member of the Million Dollar Round Table, the premier association of financial professionals, David built a solid insurance and financial planning practice in Regina and south-east Saskatchewan from the mid-1960s. He and his wife, Valerie, moved to Victoria in 1994. He continued to serve his loyal client base in Saskatchewan while building a successful practice on Vancouver Island serving clients across Western Canada.

David loved helping people and enjoyed a successful career in the insurance and financial planning industry for more than 40 years before he retired in 2009. Passionate about helping others, David supported a number of charitable community organizations and raised thousands of dollars for children afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis.

An avid sportsman, David was inducted in the Regina Sports Hall of Fame for winning the 1956 Canadian Boys’ Junior Curling Championship. He continued to curl every winter and golf in the summers until the end of his life and was a lifelong fan of his favourite sports team, the Saskatchewan Roughriders. A proud grandfather, world traveller, and jazz enthusiast, David passed away at the age of 72 in 2011. To learn more about David, his life and legacy, please view his obituary.
