Actual savings, not savings vehicles, is needed for retirement
I read Deb MacPherson’s article PRPP may help companies attract best employees last week about the advantages of the new Pooled Registered Pension Plans (PRPP). While she points out structural benefits of PRPP, she appears to have ignored or not found any consumer benefits.
With this new PRPP the government is investing money in infrastructure and control. They are not investing in encouraging Canadians to actually save more.
